Milton Bradley suspended for 1 game

NEW YORK, May 3 (UPI) -- Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley is appealing his one-game suspension and fine levied for his mid-game verbal dispute with an umpire.

Major League Baseball slapped Bradley with the penalty Tuesday, the day after he got into a jawing incident with second base umpire Gerry Davis during the Mariners' 2-0 win over Boston.

The size of the fine wasn't disclosed.

Bradley was to have served his suspension Tuesday when Seattle plays Texas but it was held in abeyance pending the appeal process.

Bradley was ejected in the third inning after arguing with Davis after teammate was called out on a close play at first while trying to beat out an infield hit. Bradley had just hit an RBI double in the top of the inning.
