Indians' Choo arrested for drunken driving

CLEVELAND, May 3 (UPI) -- Cleveland Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated this week, the team confirmed Tuesday.

Indians General Manager Chris Antonetti said the team was "aware of the incident" in which Choo was pulled over and arrested early Monday in Sheffield Lake, Ohio, about 25 miles west of Cleveland.

"The Indians organization takes these issues very seriously and we are disappointed in the matter," Antonetti said. "We will continue to monitor the situation and we will not have any further comment at this time."

The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Choo was set to be in the lineup Tuesday night when the Indians were to play the Oakland Athletics in California.

Sheffield Lake Law Director David Graves told the newspaper Choo's vehicle was pulled over at 2:25 a.m. after an officer noticed it was weaving. He said a Breathalzyer test revealed the outfielder had a blood-alcohol content of 0.20 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08.

Choo was later released his own recognizance, Graves said.

Another Indians outfielder, Austin Kearns, was also issued a DUI this season, The Plain Dealer reported.
