KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 1 (UPI) -- Mike Aviles went 3-for-4, homered and drove in four runs Sunday and the Kansas City Royals completed a three-game sweep of Minnesota with a 10-3 victory.
Aviles hit an RBI single in the sixth, making it 7-2 Royals, and added a three-run blast in the eighth to turn the game into a rout as Kansas City outscored the Twins 25-8 in the three-game set.
Mitch Maier added two hits and an RBI, scoring three times, and Brett Butler smacked a solo homer among his two hits in the victory.
Luke Hochevar (3-3) earned the win despite issuing four walks. He allowed three runs on five hits in a 6 1/3-inning performance.
Carl Pavano (2-3) was raked for seven runs (six earned) on 12 hits over 5 1/3 frames for the reeling Twins, who lost for the sixth straight time.
Justin Morneau hit a solo homer and Alexi Casilla added two hits with an RBI for Minnesota.
