MLB: Washington 3, San Francisco 0

WASHINGTON, April 29 (UPI) -- Jason Marquis allowed five hits in the seventh complete game of his career Friday, carrying Washington to a 3-0 victory over San Francisco.

Marquis struck out seven and did not walk a batter while improving his record to 3-0. He has finished a season with a winning record only five times in an 11-year career spent with five teams.

His most recent complete game had come two years ago while he was pitching for Colorado.

Marquis out-dueled National League Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum (2-3), who also struck out seven but allowed all three runs over seven innings.

Laynce Nix gave Washington the lead with a two-run homer in the second inning and Marquis helped his own cause with an RBI single in the fifth.
