TAMPA, Fla., April 25 (UPI) -- Steve Downie got the go-ahead goal and added two assists Monday in Tampa Bay's 4-2 win over Pittsburgh, forcing a Game 7 in their first-round playoff series.
Downie's third-period goal, 1:07 after Jordan Staal had forged a 2-2 tie for Pittsburgh, put the Lightning ahead for good, and they hung on to avoid elimination and head back to Pittsburgh with their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series knotted at 3-3.
Downie assisted on tallies by Teddy Purcell and Sean Bergenheim. Ryan Malone added an insurance marker midway through the final frame for the Bolts, who won their second straight after pounding the Pens 8-2 in Game 5.
Dwyane Roloson improved his career record in post-season elimination games to 5-0, stopping 27-of-29 shots to earn the win.
Pascal Dupuis netted a goal and Marc-Andre Fleury made 17 saves for Pittsburgh.
