MLS: Los Angeles 3, Portland 0

CARSON, Calif., April 24 (UPI) -- Landon Donovan broke a scoring drought with a pair of goals Saturday, powering the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 3-0 victory over Portland.

Four minutes after Chad Barrett gave the Galaxy an early 1-0 lead in fourth minute, Donovan was awarded a penalty kick after he was held by Rodney Wallace in the area.

Donovan put it into the lower left corner past Troy Perkins for his first goal of the year after 731 minutes of play.

The Galaxy captain made it 3-0 in the 67th minute with a far-post header on a cross from second-half substitute Juan Pablo Angel.

Los Angeles raised its record to 4-1-3 with its second straight win.

Portland dropped to 2-3-2.
