MLB: Detroit 9, Chicago White Sox 0

DETROIT, April 23 (UPI) -- Brad Penny held the White Sox to one hit over seven innings Saturday, staking the Detroit Tigers to a 9-0 rout of Chicago.

Penny (1-2), who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, ended with two walks and three strikeouts as the Tigers notched their third straight victory.

Alex Avila belted a two-run triple to highlight a five-run fourth inning and Ryan Raburn collected three RBI for Detroit, which pounded out 15 hits.

Edwin Jackson (2-2) was roughed up for eight runs (seven earned) on 12 hits over 5 2/3 innings for the White Sox, who fell for the ninth time in 10 games.
