ST. LOUIS, April 23 (UPI) -- Miguel Cairo hit a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning Saturday, pacing the Cincinnati Reds' 5-3 victory over St. Louis.
The Reds scored three runs in the frame to wipe out a 3-2 deficit and post their second win in three games.
Ryan Franklin took over on the mound and Cairo greeted him with a liner to left, driving in Joey Votto and Jonny Gomes with the go-ahead runs.
The hit made a winner of Aroldis Chapman (1-0), who got the final two outs of the seventh after Yadier Molina had doubled to lead off the inning. Francisco Cordero picked up his third save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Albert Pujols socked a solo homer and David Freese added two hits and an RBI for the Cards.
