LONDON, April 23 (UPI) -- London Olympic organizers say they likely will hit their sales target by next week's deadline for ticket applications.

Applications are due by Tuesday and the organizing committee says business has been brisk.

"We are confident that we're on target," said ticketing director Paul Williamson. "We've had hundreds of thousands of orders come in. We've seen a real lift in applications in the last 48 hours and we expect that to follow through to Tuesday."

Williamson told The Guardian he would not be able to say for certain that the goal of 80 percent sales had been met because all of the applications will be processed before the actual sales are rung up.

"We've always said that people who apply on day one should have the same chance as the people who apply on the last day so we want to make sure it's a level playing field for everyone," Williamson said.

The Guardian said Saturday that the 2012 games will feature 26 sports spread across 17 days and 35 venues. A main concern during the application process has been a lack of information on just how good, or bad, the seats will be.
