MLB: Arizona 5, Cincinnati 4

CINCINNATI, April 20 (UPI) -- Ryan Roberts blasted a pair of homers, driving in three runs, and the Arizona Diamondbacks went on to a 5-4 victory over Cincinnati.

Roberts connected for a solo homer in the first inning and added a go-ahead two-run shot in the fifth that put the D-backs up for good at 4-3.

Kelly Johnson and Chris Young added bases-empty homers as the Diamondbacks won the opener of a three-game series against the Reds.

Armando Galarraga (3-0) collected the victory, holding the Reds to three earned runs on four hits in a six-inning start. He surrendered two walks while striking out six.

J.J. Putz notched his fourth save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Sam LeCure (0-1) was tagged for five runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 frames as Cincinnati fell for the fourth time in five games.

Drew Stubbs hit a solo homer and Brandon Phillips added two hits and an RBI for the Reds.
