Mets demote Emaus, give Turner a turn

NEW YORK, April 19 (UPI) -- The New York Mets Tuesday demoted infielder Brad Emaus and called up infielder Justin Turner from Class AAA Buffalo.

Emaus hit just .162 (6-for-37) with one RBI in 14 games with the Mets.

Turner, 26, hit .300 with two RBI and six runs scored in 10 games with Buffalo. He was claimed off waivers from Baltimore last May and hit .059 in nine games with New York and Baltimore last season.

The Mets are mired in last place in the National League East with a 5-11 record after losing eight of their last 10 games.
