MLB: Houston 6, New York Mets 1

NEW YORK, April 19 (UPI) -- Wandy Rodriguez held the Mets to one run over seven innings Tuesday and the Houston Astros posted a 6-1 victory over New York.

Rodriguez (1-2) gave up three hits along with three walks while striking out seven in boosting the Astros to their second road win of the year.


Carlos Lee and J.R. Towles each had two hits and an RBI and Angel Sanchez added a two-run single in the eighth inning for Houston, which took the first of a three-game set at Citi Field.

Jonathon Niese (0-3) issued five walks and seven hits over six frames for the Mets, who lost for the eighth time in nine games and dropped their sixth consecutive home contest.

Carlos Beltran hit a solo homer to provide New York's only offense.
