MLB: Pittsburgh 7, Cincinnati 6

CINCINNATI, April 17 (UPI) -- Andrew McCutchen homered and drove in the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning single Sunday and Pittsburgh hung on for a 7-6 decision over Cincinnati.

Chris Resop (1-0) earned the victory after coming in to retire Ryan Hanigan with the tying run on second and two outs in the seventh inning and Joel Hanrahan notched a five-out save, his fifth of the year, to secure the win for the Pirates, who took their second victory in three game against the Reds.

McCutchen finished 3-for-3 with two walks and Garrett Jones added two hits with an RBI for Pittsburgh.

Logan Ondrusek (2-1) was saddled with the loss for Cincinnati after his throwing error allowed Chris Snyder to reach base in the eighth and score an unearned run on McCutchen's single.

Miguel Cairo, Jonny Gomes and Jay Bruce all hit solo homers in the Reds' loss.
