NBA: Miami 97, Philadelphia 89

MIAMI, April 16 (UPI) -- Miami's Chris Bosh and LeBron James combined for 46 points Saturday, sparking the Heat to a 97-89 win over Philadelphia to open a first-round playoff series.

Bosh struck for 25 points to go with 12 rebounds and James added 21 and 14 for Miami, which took a 1-0 lead in their Eastern Conference quarterfinals match-up against the 76ers.

Dwyane Wade contributed 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists as second-seeded Miami won in its first post-season game since assembling its Big Three of James, Bosh and Wade in the off-season.

After falling behind 31-19 in the first quarter, the Heat turned it on in the second frame, outscoring the Sixers 35-18 to take the lead for good.

Thaddeus Young scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds off the bench to lead the seventh-seeded Sixers.
