PHOENIX, April 16 (UPI) -- Freddy Sanchez drove in three runs late in the game Saturday, rallying the San Francisco Giants to a 5-3 victory over Arizona.
Sanchez stroked an RBI double in the sixth inning, scoring Aaron Rowand to forge a 3-3 tie. The Giants then loaded the bases against Joe Saunders (0-2) in the seventh and Sanchez collected a two-run single off reliever Sam Demel to provide the winning margin.
Buster Posey smacked a two-run homer and Guillermo Mota (1-0) was credited with the victory for 4 1/3 innings of one-relief.
Mota replaced starter Barry Zito after the San Francisco left-hander sprained his foot while making a diving catch of Saunders' second-inning bunt. The team said X-rays of Zito's foot were negative.
Miguel Montero drove in two runs with a double and Melvin Mora added two hits and an RBI for the D-backs.
