Ducks' Ryan draws 2-game suspension

NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) -- Anaheim Ducks forward Bobby Ryan has been slapped with a two-game suspension for stomping on an opponent's skate with his own, the league announced Saturday.

NHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell cited Ryan for intentionally tromping on the skate of Nashville Predators defenseman Jonathon Blum during the Ducks' 5-3 win in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinals series Friday.

"The actions by Ryan were both reckless and dangerous," Campbell said. "While it was fortunate there was no injury to Blum on the play, the act of using your skate in this manner is unacceptable."

Ryan, who scored twice Friday and notched 34 goals in the regular season, will miss Games 3 and 4 of the series.
