BOSTON, April 14 (UPI) -- Carey Price turned aside all 31 Boston shots Thursday and the Montreal Canadiens took a 1-0 first-round playoff series lead over the Bruins with a 2-0 win.

Price withstood a Boston onslaught in the second period when he stopped all 18 shots he faced and blanked the Bruins on three power plays for the sixth-seeded Canadiens, who took four out of six regular-season games from their Northeast Division rivals.

Brian Gionta scored both of Montreal's goals, finding the net in the first and third periods. Each of the tallies came on single assists from Scott Gomez.

Tim Thomas stopped 18-of-20 shots for the third-seeded Bruins, whose all-time post-season record against the Habs fell to 64-100 in 33 playoff series.
