MLB: Houston 1, San Diego 0

HOUSTON, April 14 (UPI) -- Bud Norris and three relievers teamed up for a three-hit shutout Thursday and the Houston Astros edged San Diego 1-0.

Norris (1-1) limited the Padres to two hits over six innings, walking three and striking out seven. The right-hander threw 116 pitches in the outing but allowed only one runner to reach third.

Fernando Abad and Mark Melancon combined for two scoreless innings and Brandon Lyon hurled a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save as Houston took the first of a four-game series against San Diego.

Dustin Moseley (0-3) absorbed the hard-luck loss for the Padres, allowing only one run on a sixth-inning RBI single by Michael Bourn. Moseley went 6 2/3 innings, yielding seven hits.

Chase Headley, Orlando Hudson and Cameron Maybin each singled to provide San Diego's only offense.
