MLB: Kansas City 10, Minnesota 5

MINNEAPOLIS, April 13 (UPI) -- Mike Aviles drove in three runs and the Kansas City Royals used a six-run fourth inning Wednesday to rout Minnesota 10-5.

Aviles blooped a two-run double, highlighting the fourth-inning uprising, and added another RBI double in the sixth for the Royals, who split a two-game set at Target Field.

Alex Gordon added a two-run double and Jeff Francoeur also had pair of RBI with a run scored in the Royals' victory.

Kyle Davies (1-1) picked up the win despite yielding five runs on 10 hits over five frames, giving up one walk while striking out four. Jeremy Jeffress collected his first major league save with two innings of scoreless relief.

Twins starter Francisco Liriano (0-3) was torched for seven runs on eight hits in five innings.

Denard Span went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and Delmon Young had a two-run single for Minnesota.
