BOSTON, April 11 (UPI) -- Sam Fuld and Johnny Damon each homered and drove in three runs Monday, sparking the Tampa Bay Rays to a 16-5 rout of slumping Boston.
Ben Zobrist added three hits and a pair of RBI in the Rays' 20-hit attack.
Jeremy Hellickson (1-1) got the win, allowing two runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings, despite walking five batters to go with one strikeout.
Boston fell to 2-8 to begin the season, continuing the team's worst start since 1945.
Starter Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-2) was pounded for seven runs on eight hits and the Boston bullpen fared just as poorly, yielding nine runs on 12 hits the rest of the way.
Jacoby Ellsbury homered among his two hits and David Ortiz added two RBI on a pair of hits for the Red Sox.
