Bonds jury still unable to reach verdict

SAN FRANCISCO, April 11 (UPI) -- The federal jury deliberating Barry Bonds' fate in San Francisco wrapped up its second day of deliberation Monday without reaching a verdict.

The panel of eight women and four men was set to reconvene Tuesday, the San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News reported.

After recessing Friday, the panel resumed deliberation around 10 a.m. PDT Monday with a re-reading of Kathy Hoskins' testimony. Jurors were seen taking notes.

Hoskins, a key prosecution witness in the perjury case, gave the only firsthand account of seeing Bonds injected with steroids by personal trainer Greg Anderson. She testified Bonds told Anderson he could proceed in front of her since she was "his girl" and would keep quiet.

The defense says Hoskins shaped her testimony to help her brother, Steve, another government witness.

Bonds spent the day sequestered in an attorneys' lounge of the San Francisco federal building accompanied by his legal team and supporters, including his mother, Pat Bonds, the newspaper said.
