MLB: Chicago White Sox 6, Tampa Bay 1

CHICAGO, April 10 (UPI) -- Gavin Floyd yielded only one unearned run over eight innings Sunday and the Chicago White Sox bashed three homers in their 6-1 win over Tampa Bay.

Floyd (1-0) was dominant, issuing only four hits, walking one and striking out eight in a 96-pitch performance for Chicago, which took three-of-four games in a weekend series at U.S. Cellular Field.

Paul Konerko belted a pair of solo homers and Gordon Beckham added a bases-empty shot for the Sox, who improved to 6-3.

The Rays, meanwhile, continued their early-season slide, falling to 1-8 with the setback.

Jeff Niemann (0-2) lasted only 2 2/3 innings, surrendering five runs (three earned) on five hits for Tampa Bay.
