MIAMI, April 7 (UPI) -- Adam LaRoche hit a two-run, one-out homer in the 11th inning Thursday that lifted the Washington Nationals to a 5-3 victory over Florida.
The Nationals ended a three-game losing streak, overcoming an early two-run deficit and getting a combined six innings of shutout pitching from four relievers.
It had been a 3-3 game since the sixth inning when Washington finally struck against Florida's Edward Mujica (1-1).
Ryan Zimmerman reached on a one-out, infield single in the 11th and LaRoche then hit an 0-1 pitch over the wall in right.
That made a winner out of Todd Coffey (1-0), who worked a 1-2-3 10th inning.
Sean Burnett came on in the 11th and gave up a two-out single to Wes Helms before getting Emilio Bonifacio to ground into a force play to end the game. It was Burnett's second save.
