BALTIMORE, April 7 (UPI) -- A two-run double by Mark Reynolds highlighted a five-run seventh inning Thursday that rallied the Baltimore Orioles to a 9-5 victory over Detroit.
The Orioles twice fought back from a two-run deficit, then fell behind again before coming through with the big inning that gave them their fifth win in six games this season.
Baltimore begins a three-game series Friday at home against Texas, the only unbeaten team left in the majors.
Adam Jones hit a two-run homer for Baltimore to tie it at 4-4 in the sixth but Detroit regained the advantage on an RBI double by Austin Jackson in the top of the seventh.
The Orioles then sent 10 men to the plate in the bottom half of the inning, scoring five times on four hits.
With Brad Thomas (0-1) on the mound, Brian Roberts opened the seventh with a single and moved to second on a walk to Nick Markakis.
After Enrique Gonzalez relieved Thomas, Vladimir Guerrero's one-out single drove in Roberts with the tying run and both Guerrero and Markakis moved up on the throw to the plate.
Luke Scott was intentionally walked to load the bases, Adam Jones followed with a sacrifice fly and Reynolds doubled to left to bring home Guerrero and Scott. Reynolds eventually scored the fifth run of the inning on a single by Cesar Izturis.
Jim Johnson (1-0) worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings as the third Baltimore pitcher and picked up the win.
Guerrero hit his first homer as a member of the Orioles in the second.
