ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 6 (UPI) -- Dan Haren allowed only one run over 7 2/3 innings Wednesday and the Los Angeles Angels handed Tampa Bay its fifth straight loss in a 5-1 decision.
Haren (1-0) turned in a strong performance, yielding four hits and striking out six without issuing a walk for the Angels, who won their third consecutive game.

Alberto Callaspo hit a solo homer, Mark Trumbo went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Jeff Mathis doubled twice and knocked in a run for Los Angeles.
The Rays, who dropped to 0-5 to begin the season, got all of their offense via B.J. Upton's solo homer.
Jeremy Hellickson (0-1) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs on six hits with a pair of walks and a career-high 10 strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.
