MLB: New York Mets 7, Philadelphia 1

PHILADELPHIA, April 5 (UPI) -- Chris Young fanned seven batters and stroked three hits in his New York debut Tuesday, lifting the Mets to a 7-1 victory over Philadelphia.

Young (1-0), who signed with the Mets as a free agent in the off-season after playing with San Diego, held the Phillies to one run on five hits with four walks over 5 1/3 innings, and went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Two of his hits came in the third inning when the Mets scored six times and chased Phillies starter Cole Hamels (0-1).

David Wright went 4-for-5 with two RBI for the New York.

Hamels lasted just 2 2/3 innings, surrendering six runs on seven hits and two walks as Philadelphia absorbed its first loss following a 3-0 start to the season.
