NHL: Calgary 2, Colorado 1

DENVER, April 3 (UPI) -- Miikka Kiprusoff kept Calgary in the playoff hunt Sunday, stopping 34-of-35 shots in the Flames' 2-1 victory over Colorado.

Kiprusoff was especially busy in the second period, turning aside all 18 Colorado shots as the Flames, with 91 points, pulled to within one of Chicago for the eighth and final Western Conference post-season berth.

Calgary's chances, however, remained slim because the Flames have only two games remaining while the Blackhawks and seventh-seeded Anaheim (93 points) each have four contests left.

Olli Jokinen and Alex Tanguay scored for the Flames.

Milan Hejduk scored and Peter Budaj turned aside 34-of-36 shots for the Avalanche.
