NHL: Tampa Bay 2, Pittsburgh 1

TAMPA, Fla., March 31 (UPI) -- Dwayne Roloson took a shutout into the third period Thursday and made 36 saves to clinch a playoff berth for Tampa Bay with a 2-1 win over Pittsburgh.

The Lightning earned a post-season spot for the first time in four seasons and moved within three points of Pittsburgh for the No. 4 seed in the playoffs.

Both Tampa Bay goals came in the opening period - one from Steve Downie and the other from Martin St. Louis, who scored his 30th of the season.

Mike Rupp delivered Pittsburgh's only goal 4:31 into the third, but Roloson clamped down from there to bring the Lightning their third straight victory.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 22 shots for the Penguins, who missed a chance to move closer to Philadelphia for the lead in the Atlantic Division. The Flyers lead Pittsburgh by four points.
