NEW YORK, March 30 (UPI) -- Chauncey Billups grabbed a key rebound with 4 seconds left and then made two free throws Wednesday to wrap up the New York Knicks' 120-116 win over New Jersey.
The Knicks maintained a 3 1/2-game lead over Indiana for seventh place in the Eastern Conference and stayed within two games of Philadelphia for sixth place.
Deron Williams attempted a potential game-tying jumper for the Nets with time running down but his shot failed to go and Billups was there for the rebound. His ensuing foul shots gave the Knicks their second straight win, which came after they had fallen behind by 16 points in the second quarter.
New York's Carmelo Anthony scored 39 points for the second straight game and he put the Knicks in front for good at 116-114 on a jumper with 1:17 to play.
Billups finished with 33 points and Amare Stoudemire had 23 points while spending most of the game in foul trouble.
New Jersey was led by 30 points from Anthony Morrow. Williams returned from a six-game layoff brought on by a strained tendon in his right wrist.
