MIAMI, March 28 (UPI) -- With the NFL mired in a lockout, Miami Dolphins team captain Jake Long is organizing player-only workouts this week, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

The newspaper reports multiple sources say the training was to start Monday at Nova Southeastern's weight room and athletic fields. The sources told the Sentinel Long was coordinating the sessions with help from quarterback Chad Henne.

The turnout was not expected to be high, given that many players don't live in the area during the off-season and many player agents are advising against player-only workouts, the newspaper said.

"If a guy works out right now and suffers an injury, he's not covered by his NFL contract during this lockout," said Drew Rosenhaus, who represents eight players from last season's Dolphins squad. "So if you get injured, the team doesn't have to pay your salary next year. It's not a sanctioned activity, so if a guy goes out there and blows his knee, the team can say they've decided not to pay your contract this year. It's very risky."
