EDMONTON, Alberta, March 27 (UPI) -- Alex Tanguay scored in a shootout Saturday, capping a 5-4 Calgary comeback win over Edmonton that kept the Flames' playoff hopes alive.
Tanguay, Calgary's first shooter, beat Devan Dubnyk and Miikka Kiprusoff made the advantage hold up with stops on Jordan Eberle and Teemu Hartikainen, handing the Flames a crucial victory.
Calgary charged back from a 4-1 deficit with third-period goals from Jarome Iginla (his second of the game), Curtis Glencross and Steve Staios -- the last coming with 2 minutes remaining in regulation.
Kiprusoff turned aside 17-of-21 shots for the Flames, who pulled to within one point of Chicago for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Magnus Paajarvi, Hartikainen and Colin Fraser found the net and Dubnyk ended with 27 saves for Edmonton.
