NHL: Boston 2, Philadelphia 1

PHILADELPHIA, March 27 (UPI) -- Brad Marchand's power-play goal with less than 4 minutes left in the third period Sunday handed Boston a 2-1 win over Philadelphia and a playoff berth.

With Mike Richards off on a high-sticking call, Marchand was on the doorstep in front of the Flyers' net to poke in the rebound of a Dennis Seidenberg shot with only 3:43 left in regulation.

Nathan Horton added a power-play tally and Tim Thomas logged 11 of his 27 saves in the third period for the Northeast Division-leading Bruins, who officially gained a post-season spot.

Kris Versteeg scored and Brian Boucher stopped 34 shots for Philadelphia, which saw its lead over Pittsburgh atop the Eastern Conference dwindle to only two points with the loss.
