Lawrie wins Andalucia, 1st title since '02

MALAGA, Spain, March 27 (UPI) -- Paul Lawrie took his first European Tour win since 2002 Sunday, managing an even-par 70 to claim the Open de Andalucia in Spain.

Lawrie, whose last win was in Wales nearly nine years ago, led by two strokes up until the final hole, when his bogey cut his winning margin over Johan Edfors to a single shot at 12-under 268.

Edfors (68) stayed close thanks to Lawrie's shaky start but in the end couldn't bridge the gap, and Lawire, who also won the 1999 British Open, went on to capture the title at Parador de Malaga Golf.

Felipe Aguilar carded a 2-under 68, finishing third at 10-under 270.

Coming in fourth at minus-nine were Jeppe Huldahl (67), Raphael Jacquelin (69) and Mark Foster (72).
