ATLANTA, March 25 (UPI) -- A 30-save effort by Roberto Luongo Friday brought the Vancouver Canucks their ninth win in 11 games, a 3-1 decision over Atlanta.
The Canucks improved to 107 points, giving them nine more than Philadelphia and 12 more than Detroit. Vancouver is seeking the first Presidents' Trophy, for the team with the most points during a season, in franchise history.
Mason Raymond and Alex Bolduc scored in the second period to give Vancouver a 2-0 lead. Bryan Little brought the Thrashers within one with 5:30 to go.
Luongo, however, was perfect the rest of the way and Alex Burrows scored shorthanded into an empty net with 13 seconds to play.
Chris Mason made 23 saves for the Thrashers, who are nine points behind Buffalo for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
