NHL: Toronto 3, Minnesota 0

ST. PAUL, Minn., March 22 (UPI) -- James Reimer posted his third career shutout, stopping all 29 Minnesota shots Tuesday in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 3-0 victory over the Wild.

Reimer blanked Minnesota on six power plays and turned aside 11 shots in each of the final two periods for the Leafs, whose faint Eastern Conference playoff hopes remained alive with the victory.

Reimer improved to 7-0-1 in his last eight road games while Joffrey Lupul, Mikhail Grabovski and Carl Gunnarsson each scored for Toronto, which stayed within five points of Buffalo for the East's final post-season berth.

Niklas Backstrom let in three goals on only 17 shots for the freefalling Wild, who followed up Sunday's franchise-worst 8-1 defeat at the hands of Montreal with a club record seventh straight loss.
