RAGUSA, Italy, March 21 (UPI) -- Raphael Jacquelin finished off a final-round 3-under-par 68 and won the European Tour's Sicilian Open by one stroke.
A weather delay Sunday caused play to be suspended and set up the Monday finish. Jacquelin, who got 12 holes in Sunday, was 1-under for his six holes Monday, which was just enough to hold off Anthony Walls.
Jacquelin had a 72-hole score of 12-under 272 while Wall was second at 11-under. It was the third European Tour title for Jacquelin, who took home the winner's check of $236,000. Wall won $157,000.
Jose Manuel Lara, who had a final round of 2-under 69, and Joel Sjoholm, also a fourth-round 69, tied for third at 7-under and eight players tied for fifth at 5-under.
When play resumed for the leaders at No. 13 Monday, Wall opened with a birdie but Jacquelin regained the lead with a birdie at 14.
Wall pulled into a tie with a birdie at 16 but took a 6 on the par-4 17th hole after hitting into the water. Even an 18th-hole birdie for Wall wasn't enough to catch Jacquelin, who had four pars to close the tournament.
