MLS: Philadelphia 1, Houston 0

HOUSTON, March 19 (UPI) -- Danny Califf scored early for Philadelphia Saturday and the Union made it hold up for a 1-0 victory over Houston.

Califf scored in the fifth minute when he buried the rebound of a shot Sebastien Le Toux had launched in traffic and bounced off the crossbar.

Houston had a chance to tie it up with just over 20 minutes remaining in the game but Dominic Oduro missed an easy shot from the penalty area after being set up Geoff Cameron.

The Dynamo (0-1-0) lost its season opener.
