NHL: Washington 3, New Jersey 0

NEWARK, N.J., March 18 (UPI) -- Michal Neuvirth collected his fourth shutout of the season by making 33 saves Friday in sending the Washington Capitals to a 3-0 decision over New Jersey.

The Capitals have 10 victories in 11 outings and bounced back from a loss to Detroit Wednesday that halted a nine-game winning streak.

Washington moved into a tie with Philadelphia for most points in the Eastern Conference (94) but the Flyers have one more win than the Capitals. Philadelphia also has three games in hand on Washington.

The Capitals scored a goal in each period, the last two coming from Mike Knuble. Defenseman Jeff Schultz opened the scoring with his first goal in 63 games this season.

Washington's three goals against Martin Brodeur came on just 12 shots.

New Jersey lost its second straight and remained six points out of the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
