NEW YORK, March 16 (UPI) -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice used airline tickets he bought from Brooklyn credit card scam artists, a court heard. The NFL star's name surfaced in a federal court trial of Winsome White, a New York woman charged with credit card fraud, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

Prosecutors say White and ex-boyfriend Ashley Simmons were part of a scam that ripped off credit card numbers from unsuspecting victims in order to purchase airline tickets sold for cash at a discount price.
The two were arrested in 2009 by U.S. Probation Officer Richard Koury, who was supervising Simmons for a previous conviction for credit card fraud.
In trial testimony Koury acknowledged on cross-examination by defense attorneys for White that Rice had flown numerous times on airline tickets purchased with "compromised" credit card numbers.
"Was he arrested, to your knowledge?" defense lawyer Bridget Rohde asked
"Not to my knowledge," Koury responded.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Darren LaVerne did not present evidence of how Rice purchased the airline tickets or from whom.
Rice's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, did not return calls asking for comment, the Daily News reported.
