Bradley rallies, bests Matteson in playoff

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico, March 13 (UPI) -- Michael Bradley staged a furious rally Sunday, rebounding from four shots down to defeat Troy Matteson on the first playoff hole to take the Puerto Rico Open.

Bradley finished the final round with his fourth consecutive 4-under-par 68 to move up the leaderboard. But he bogeyed the final hole to fall into a tie with Matteson at 16-under-par 272.

The pair then returned to the 18th hole for a playoff in which Matteson bogeyed and Bradley logged a par to collect his fourth career PGA win and second at the Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande. Bradley also took the event in 2009.

Tying for third place were Stephen Ames (66) and Hunter Haas (71) at 14-under.

George McNeill (69) claimed sole possession of fifth at minus-13.
