LAS VEGAS, March 12 (UPI) -- Billy White scored 21 points Saturday, boosting No. 6 San Diego State to a 72-54 victory over No. 8 Brigham Young and a Mountain West Conference title.
White also grabbed 12 rebounds.
Kawhi Leonard added 20 points for the Aztecs (32-2), who claimed their second straight MWC Tournament victory.
San Diego State cruised for most of the game but had to turn back a late BYU rally to collect its fourth all-time tourney championship.
Jimmer Fredette cooled down a bit after pouring in a career-high 52 points in Friday's semifinal win over New Mexico, settling for 30 points in a losing effort for the Cougars (30-4).
BYU lost for the second time in five games since dismissing forward Brandon Davies from the team for violating the school's honor code.
