Price ahead by five on Champions Tour

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 11 (UPI) -- Nick Price equaled the course record Friday and opened a five-shot lead after 18 holes at the Toshiba Classic.

Price shot the lowest round of his Champions Tour career, an 11-under 60 at the Newport Beach Country Club. He eagled two of the final four holes to tie the course record set in 2004 by Tom Purtzer. Price is seeking his fourth win on the over-50 circuit.

Bernhard Langer, Mark O'Meara, Mark Wiebe and Brad Bryant all shot 65 while defending champion Fred Couples shared sixth place with David Peoples and Andy Bean at 66.

Former British Open champion Ian Baker-Finch, whose game deteriorated during his 40s and who is a fixture on the CBS golf announcing team, made his first appearance in what he hopes will be a comeback to the sport. He shot a 74 and was in front of seven players.

Finch turned 50 in October.
