PHILADELPHIA, March 8 (UPI) -- Jeff Carter shook off a flu bug and scored twice Tuesday, helping the Philadelphia Flyers end a winless skid with a 4-1 victory over Edmonton.
Carter, who missed two of the previous three games due to the illness, scored with less than 3 minutes remaining in the initial frame, putting the Flyers up 2-0. He struck again early in the second, notching his 30th marker of the year for a three-goal Philadelphia advantage.
Sergei Bobrovsky was especially busy in the third period when he turned aside all 13 Oilers shots en route to 24 saves, helping the Eastern Conference-leading Flyers halt a season-worst losing streak at four games.
Danny Briere and Blair Betts scored goals for Philadelphia.
Jean-Francois Jacques scored and Devan Dubnyk stopped 23 shots for Edmonton.
