Sweden ends with 3-2 Davis win over Russia

BORAS, Sweden, March 6 (UPI) -- Russia's Dmitry Tursunov and Igor Andreev won a pair of dead rubbers Sunday, forcing Sweden to settle for a 3-2 victory in first-round Davis Cup play.

Tursunov downed Simon Aspelin 7-5, 6-2 and Andreev bested Joachim Johansson 7-6 (10-8), 6-4, wrapping up a match that saw Sweden's doubles duo of Aspelin and Robert Lindstedt clinch an insurmountable 3-0 lead Saturday.

Sweden advanced to July's quarterfinals, when they will host defending champion Serbia.

Serbia dispatched India Sunday to reach the second round.
