NHL: Buffalo 5, Philadelphia 3

PHILADELPHIA, March 5 (UPI) -- Jason Pominville scored the go-ahead goal and the Buffalo Sabres inched closer to a playoff spot Saturday with a 5-3 victory over Philadelphia.

Pominville tipped in a seeing-eye pass from Thomas Vanek at the right of the Philadelphia net 6:37 into the final period, breaking a 3-3 tie, and added an assist in the Sabres' win.

Tyler Ennis and Andrej Sekera each had a goal and helper for Buffalo, which overcome a 2-0 deficit with three straight second-period tallies and pulled to within one point of Carolina for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Ryan Miller turned aside 33-of-36 shots to log his first win against the Flyers this season in three meetings.

Kris Versteeg, James van Riemsdyk and Kimmo Timonen scored for conference-leading Philadelphia, which dropped its third straight.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves for the Flyers.
