NBA: Dallas 116, Indiana 108

DALLAS, March 4 (UPI) -- A near-perfect shooting performance by Dirk Nowitzki Friday led the Dallas Mavericks to their eighth straight victory, a 116-108 triumph over Indiana.

Nowitzki made 10-of-12 from the field and 9-of-10 from the foul line to score 29 points. Jason Terry added 21 for Dallas and Jason Kidd had 15.

The Mavericks had only a four-point lead with 8:28 to play but then held Indiana scoreless for 2:30 while expanding their advantage to 11.

Dallas shot 51 percent from the field and outrebounded the Pacers by nine.

Indiana began the night clinging to the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference by a half game over Charlotte.

Danny Granger led Indiana with 22 points.
