NHL: Edmonton 2, Nashville 1 (SO)

EDMONTON, Alberta, March 2 (UPI) -- Linus Omark scored the decisive goal in the shootout Tuesday to give the Edmonton Oilers a 2-1 win over Nashville.

Predators goalie Pekka Rinne made 25 saves but Omark beat him with a soft forehand on the left side in the fourth round of the shootout.

Jimmy Vandermeer scored in regulation for the Oilers, who ended a brief two-game losing streak. Martin Gerber finished with 34 saves for the Oilers.

Blake Geoffrion accounted for the lone Nashville goal, scoring the first goal of his career at 12:45 of the first period. Vandermeer came back 41 seconds later to tie the game with his second goal of the season.

Nashville picked up a point in the standings but remain one point behind second-place Chicago in the Central Division, after going 1-4-1 in its last six games.
