LAWRENCE, Kan., March 2 (UPI) -- Elijah Johnson ignited a late-game Kansas rush with a slam dunk Wednesday and the No. 2 Jayhawks pulled away for a 64-51 win over 22nd-ranked Texas A&M.
Kansas won its fourth straight and clinched at least a share of the regular-season Big 12 Conference title.
The Jayhawks made 9-of-18 shots from 3-point range, but the Aggies stayed in the contest by controlling the backboards.
B.J. Holmes made a 3-point shot to bring the Aggies within two points with 10:04 to go in the contest. After Kansas called a time out, Marcus Morris made a lob pass to Johnson, who slammed it home to touch off a game-closing 21-10 run.
Both Marcus Morris and twin brother Markieff Morris scored 13 points to lead Kansas. Tyrel Reed added 12 points for the Jayhawks (28-2, 13-2 Big 12).
Kansas has a one-game lead over Texas in the conference race with one contest left to be played. The Jayhawks close their regular season Saturday at Missouri.
Texas A&M (22-7, 9-6) was led by David Loubeau with 14 points.
