PROVO, Utah, March 1 (UPI) -- Brigham Young University sophomore center Brandon Davies has been dismissed from the team, school officials announced Tuesday.
Davies, the third-ranked Cougars' starting pivot man, was found to be in violation of an undisclosed honor code infraction and was ruled ineligible for the rest of the season, in a major blow to BYU's NCAA Tournament hopes.
Davies was the Cougars' third-leading scorer at 11.1 points per game. He led the team with 6.2 rebounds per contest.
BYU will be without him Wednesday when it hosts New Mexico and finishes out its regular season Saturday against Wyoming.
