NHL: Tampa Bay 2, New Jersey 1

TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Dwayne Roloson took a shutout into the third period and made 19 saves Friday in helping Tampa Bay cool off New Jersey 2-1.

It was only the second regulation loss for the Devils since Jan. 8. They have gone 16-2-2 since then and had won their last eight.

The Lightning goals came 54 seconds apart early in the second period from Martin St. Louis and Simon Gagne. St. Louis has 23 for the season.

Mark Fayne produced the New Jersey goal on a slap shot with 11:47 left in regulation, but Roloson and the Tampa Bay defense were perfect the rest of the way.

Tampa Bay closed out a 12-game homestand that equaled the longest in NHL history. The Lightning went 7-3-2 in that stretch.

Johan Hedbert stopped 28 shots for the Devils, who despite their recent success began the evening 12 points out of a playoff position.
